See. Eat. Stay
Osage County is the first county east of the state capital in Jefferson City. The county is rural and has a population of 14,000. The five incorporated towns and villages in the county are Linn (county seat), Chamois, Westphalia, Freeburg and Meta.
The county is home to many beautiful historic churches including several Catholic churches on the National Historic Register. The Agritourism Council is pleased to showcase the treasures of Osage County.
Besides a clean and comfortable 43 bed hotel in Linn, Osage County has 4 bed and breakfast opportunities – 2 on farms, 1 in former school building, 1 in former Osage County Poor Farm building. Three of the bnb’s are in buildings from the late 1800’s.
Osage County also has a campground on the shore of the Osage River and a RV park in Chamois just feet from the Missouri River.

Westphalia Vineyards
Location: In Westphalia at Westphalia Inn, Restaurant and Tasting Room
Information: Nestled in the rolling hills of central Missouri lies the town of Westphalia, the “Pearl of Osage County.” Settled in the 1830’s, the forested hillsides reminded the German immigrants of their native province of Westfalen in the River Valley. The tranquil Maries River ribbons through the Westphalia area past limestone bluffs, lush farmland, and picturesque vineyards. The vineyards are a part of the Westphalia Inn, Restaurant and Tasting Room and are owned and operated by Terry and Mary Neuner.

Osage County has over 1,000 farms with 305,000 acres in agricultural production and livestock. The average farm is 266 family acres according to the 1997 U.S. Census of Agriculture. Because agriculture is the main industry in the county, many products are, or can be made, available to consumers directly “from our home to your home.”
